Susan Breeden

In April 1992, ELLE magazine published my letter to the editor regarding their interview with Yves Saint Laurent. The designer had remained true to his instinct, despite adversity. The article taught me the importance of tenacity. Seeing my letter in print validated my desire to be heard, specifically through the written word.

It has been 20 years since what I lovingly refer to as my first publishing credit. Since then, I’ve experienced much adversity of my own. I’ve come to appreciate its power to motivate. I’ve learned to recognize its hidden gifts (i.e., writing  material). I never walk away from any situation  empty-handed.

Neither should you.
