In April 1992, ELLE magazine published my letter to the editor regarding their interview with Yves Saint Laurent. The designer had remained true to his instinct, despite adversity. The article taught me the importance of tenacity. Seeing my letter in print nourished my desire to be heard, specifically through the written word.
Since that time, I’ve experienced much adversity of my own. I’ve come to appreciate its power to motivate. I’ve learned to recognize its hidden gifts (i.e., writing material). I never walk away from any situation empty-handed.
Neither should you.
